Stay Focused

The George Floyd verdict is in! We now have an obligation to see that no justice anywhere is injustice everywhere. Please keep the George Floyd verdict in perspective. This should be standard practice for anyone that commits a crime such as this. However, there is more work to do. In the meantime you have various state legislatures seeking to disenfranchise people of color from their voting rights. All because democracy worked. There are also states like Florida that proposed and passed legislation called Anti Riot legislation that would make the average protestor vulnerable to violence. However, nothing is being done about the insurrection of Jan. 6. Stay focused and not allow this verdict to allow you to relax for one minute. There really can be no peace without justice. There can be no justice without truth. And there can be no truth, unless someone rises up to tell you the truth. ...

Are you playing tug of war with your weight? Stop struggling today. No more diets, time to change your lifestyle. Are we committed to healthy eating and exercise? Often times we convince ourselves that we need to change and commit to a change for about 5-7 days. If we don't see the changes we would like to see in the first week, we gradually revert back to bad eating and lack of exercise. “To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.” – Buddha The First Step Before you start the insane workouts with 10,000 burpees, you will have to develop good eating habits. Stranger in My Own Country

For years police brutality and racism have been hidden. The only exposure came through the survivors of said brutality, the media, and those racists dumb enough to take pictures of their crimes. Although many can argue arrogance instead of stupidity considering many of those people were never prosecuted for their crimes. It wasn't until the rise of smartphones and social media, that now, that many of those crimes are now being caught on camera and video. These brazen acts still have found that the culprits haven't been held accountable which as lead to protests and boycotts. Some protests have become violent leaving critics to use the violence as an excuse to label people of color as the catalyst for the unrest in the country. These violent acts have given way to BLM, the movement! However, the impact this has had on me emotionally and mentally has really forced me to look at my country with contempt. I live in an area that was predominately Republican. Trump supporters...

Blood thicker than Water?

Image
The saying that blood is thicker than water is a myth. I’m here to set the record straight. Often, blood lines are worse than enemies. It has been my experience that friendships I have developed over time have much deeper roots than some family blood lines. Various things can contribute to a family being splintered. Drugs, money, education, and socioeconomic status are the main contributors to family not being family. As a result, many family members feel ostracized which causes them to withdraw. When a member of a family doesn’t have anything in common with the rest of the family, they tend to rely heavily on friends and bonds that have developed. As I reflect on my life, I identify with this wholeheartedly. Let me start off by saying, I LOVE MY FAMILY, however, I do not love all aspects of my family. For example, I hate the fact that drugs and alcohol have destroyed both sides of my family. I would also say that I don’t get along with certain family members. This has occurred not fo...

Why so Afraid?

On a segment of Marc Lamont Hill's show, he had Vernon Jones, former member of the Georgia House of Representatives and candidate for Governor to discuss the idea of Critical Race Theory being taught in schools. A white woman recently screamed in what seemed to be some sort of school meeting that she’s not a racist because she doesn’t want her children taught Critical Race Theory. Lt. Governor of North Carolina Mark Robinson stated in March that he opposes Critical Race Theory taught in schools. So, what is this Critical Race Theory and why is it such a big deal? I would lead by saying that none of these people have an understanding of what CRT is however, it has become one of the loudest dog whistles for Republicans. It is being used to once again to alarm whites by accusing the Left of promoting an ideology taught in this country that promotes a heritage of systemic racism. This alarm is being used to stir a base that has openly embraced the revitalization of white supremacy th...
